Remote control for a dust extractor?

My workshop is built inside one of our barns. I stud walled the end, insulated and boarded it out. The dust collector will be outside the workshop but still inside the barn so I don’t need weather protection for it. Perhaps building a small shed type structure around yours would work?

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Good point. I hadn’t thought of that as I only use smart switches for smaller loads. I’m going to get one of the remote controllers from tough leads, just need to open the switch and check to see if it’s a 4 or 5 pin switch.

Remote control for a dust extractor?

I’ll take a look at the video in a little while, sounds very useful. My shop is fairly small and, to start with, the dust collector will be for the lathe and bandsaw but I may extend it round to the mitre saw, still deciding if a dust collector or a shop vac with cyclone is the better option for...

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Not worried about that really, more I was looking for options to control from inside the workshop with the dust collector outside.

Remote control for a dust extractor?

That’s an option I was looking at but a remote would be useful as I could have one at each machine. Mostly I was asking to see what other people used as I figured this would have come up before.

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Looks like just the thing, thank you very much.

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Looks like the only thing is to re-wire that switch then. Thanks.

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Switch is built into the machine so would require some rewiring. I’m not averse to that but I was wondering if there was a simpler, non-destructive, way as I see plenty of YouTube videos where people have a remote fob for their dust collector and just wondered how they might be set up.

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Yes exactly that, it’s called a no voltage release switch. If power is killed to the machine, the switch cuts and it won’t restart when the power is resumed, prevents a machine starting automatically after a power interruption.

Remote control for a dust extractor?

Recently picked up a dust extractor that will live outside my workshop. I’d thought to use a smart switch to turn it on and off but it has an NVR switch so that won’t work as it won’t turn back on after it’s been turned off by the smart switch. Any suggestions on how to add a remote control...

    dust collection advice please.

Hi Pete, thanks very much indeed, I'll have a play with that. Looks like I'll want to do as much as possible in 4" drainpipe and do the minimal amount of connection with Flexi then. The collector will still be indoors but in the storage part of the barn rather than the workshop so I'll still...

    dust collection advice please.

Having just picked up a used 2hp dust collector, I now need to pipe it up. I want to keep it just outside the workshop to keep the noise down and save space inside so need to run pipe to the various machines. It's not a large workshop but it's a bit awkward to run pipe as there's benches along...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Built an air cleaner for the workshop. Looked at the price of the ones from places like Axminster and they’re expensive and small and I have low ceiling height in the shop. Picked up a big from filter and bolted it to a piece of ply with some casters underneath, then a bit of foam stripping and...

Pleated filter for SIP dust collector?

I didn't even realise they did it as an option on those collectors. Thank you very much, that's perfect. Found one for £175 at highland fastenings which is now winging it's way to me.

Pleated filter for SIP dust collector?

I've just picked up a used SIP 01954 2HP dust collector. The bags are pretty tired and I'd like to fit a pleated filter with one of those bars that rolls around to knock the dust down into a bag. Couple of questions: 1. Can anyone recommend a seller for the filters please 2. Can I put a plastic...
