    New square required!

As you say keep the stock of the bevel in your left hand, but it sounds like you didn't keep referencing off face side and face edge, if you just keep turning the timber you will draw a spiral. Cheers Peter

    New square required!

It just shows a square can be inaccurate and give you a continuous box mark, but the shoulders are not square and problems will follow. Cheers Peter

    New square required!

If you set a sliding bevel out of square and mark around a section of timber always referencing off face side and face edge it will also give you a complete, but it will not be a square mark. Try it out for fun. Cheers Peter

Review : Chisel and Plane Sharpening - Peter Sefton

I agree with woodbrains that stropping when done with a compound is sharpening. I am not sure how you would define stropping in your hand and if someone wishes to try and grade the abrasive effect of skin :) I only use hand stropping if the wire edge is very fine, the action will fatigue the...

    Record Power Sabre 350 bandsaw

I took a good look at a Sabre 450 before Christmas and for the price it looks very impressive. I have not used one and the showroom one was not powered up but it has some good features. I thought the guide bearings looked easy to set up and well thought out both above and below the table. The...

    Sash making video.

Great video, I really enjoyed seeing how they were made, so different to the way I was taught. But we had the benefit of machines and modern glues. I haven't seen the tenon cheek cutting done in this way on such small timber but is common on larger tenons or Oak framing work. Regarding the...

Review : Chisel and Plane Sharpening - Peter Sefton

I can't take credit for the high quality of the video filming work, that is down to Artisan Media who are very professional. I have tried some workshop filming work but this is very poor by Artisans standards. We filmed the second series back in August and they are almost finished editing the...

Review : Chisel and Plane Sharpening - Peter Sefton

Stropping certainly plays a part in my sharpening routine and is covered in at least four different forms in the video. Hand stropping, hard leather block and soft leather along with timber and Autosol. I cover how I feel it improves the cutting edge (sharpens) or just removes the wire edge and...

Agreed, thus the saying backing off the chisel the same applies to a plane blade which can have a back bevel.... Cheers Peter

Parto The Incra 7518 T is now pre drilled ready for the Triton routers with above the table winder systems, the TRA-001 uses the rear hole and the MOF-001 uses the front hole and has all the fixing holes ready for fixing the router too. Wood movement

Just had a quick scan look over the videos, as mentioned in the first video their could be an issue with the cornice but this may have been allowed for in the construction (glued at the mitres slot fixed at the back) The lower cabinet side could be an issue but this is a reproduction piece and...

Advice on a router table to suit a Trend T11

Oh yes, and the router has been spun by 30 odd degrees so the router winder is now well forward of the fence line which makes it much better to use. It also works with the DW 626 and Router Raizer and drilled to suit. Cheers Peter

Do diamond grit sharpening stones wear out?

I have a red mesh DMT Whetstone which has been very good and around 15 years old but my newer more expensive DMT Dia-Sharp has worn after not much work. We used to sell them but I stopped after my own disappointed me. Cheers Peter

    Small workshop fine dust extraction

I have the Axminster ST-635 Dual Drum sander and extract it with the Jet DC1100A with filter cartridge. It does the job and has passed it's first years LEV test but I don't think the cartridge will last that long, it might be worth buying the standard version and a quality aftermarket cartridge...
