    Tormke t-4 vs 'other makes'?

Tormek isn't green (should it be?) but a) has all the 'extras' b) Has pretty good all round reviews. c) Has a good warranty. Seems to ring a green bell? Is it worth the 'extra' money? Any views please. For kitchen knives and flat chisels, totted up to around £600 which had me wincing. If not...

3 piece loft ladder, how to lubricate?

All done. To clean it out I had to remove the ladder (heave it up into the loft!). Cleaned with wh spirit. Liberal spray with the 'dry' Wd40. Quick wipe, re-install. Makes such a difference. Thanks for the advice.

3 piece loft ladder, how to lubricate?

Understood. The one I have has ... reasonable treads. OK, bit hard when pushing suitcases up though. Being light it's not bad to shove up / collapse down - much easier when lubed though. Ptfe spray on the way - I'll degrease first though. Will report back

3 piece loft ladder, how to lubricate?

    1. Cost - makes no sense. 2. Weight? wood vs Al? I am 'old' (my definition). 3. Only have one rafter width - I doubt a wider ladder would fit?

3 piece loft ladder, how to lubricate?

Good idea.. I doubt it, but I'll look. This one hinges up into the loft - though not sprung. I've ordered some ptfe spray - thanks folks. See how that works. I guess I'll have to clean off the other gunk first. Probably that that is making it stiff!

3 piece loft ladder, how to lubricate?

I've tried various 'grease' type products. None have lasted.

3 piece loft ladder, how to lubricate?

Loft ladder, 3 sections, over time friction is becoming annoying and hard work. What can I use to lubricate one section rubbing against the 'channel' of the one above please?

    Aluminium tower advice please

Cost basis? A recent job, routing out mortar OK, but repointing, I never managed more than a couple of sq yds per session. Buy and resell would make a much better bet cash wise.

Festool saws, dust extraction, Henry and 100mm....

Yet another case for someone to start up 3d printing hose matching 'couplers'.

A bit wider... but how much? Drilling template, one round, one elongated hole

chuckles. I *think* I still have a rawl...drill? is that the right term? with the bit firmly lodged inside. Same issue though, 'expecting' customers to have the 'right' set of tools? (Evil thoughts... stick it to the wall with 'no more nails' ;-) )

A bit wider... but how much? Drilling template, one round, one elongated hole

IMHO 3rd and 4th holes a bit OTT (not a heavy item being hung). "Allow for larger screws" ...Not keen, supplier has to 'guess'. As it is the screws are cr.. Seems reasonable if supplied ones not liked, bring your own (I did). Agree about some walls, almost like take a brick out and cement...

<cheapskateMe>Or buy some steel / brass wire on the 'stiff side' and bend it. V.careful drilling, works perfectly... whatever they're called, they're useful </cheapsketMe>

Royal Mail - complete ban on bladed items from 22nd April

Took delivery (DPD) of a nice kitchen knife yesterday. What of that industry?

A bit wider... but how much? Drilling template, one round, one elongated hole

Please read the OP? I'm trying to improve a design for (rel to you) numpties so they can do it easily? And @Spectric make this suggestion. Fair enough for a DIY bod. Hardly applicable to those with 5 tools at the bottom of the kitchen drawer? I'm trying to include those as 'customers' who...

A bit wider... but how much? Drilling template, one round, one elongated hole

I like the idea. I've only one bracket (plastic) to play with. Two 'extended' H and V sounds ideal. I think I prefer 'twice' as long as necessary, except I'd run into the raised part. I'll pass that one on though, tks @Duncan A

A bit wider... but how much? Drilling template, one round, one elongated hole

I'm doing this to get a commercial company to cater for more customer skill levels. 'do it right' isn't helpful when you have little skills? Hence my question, to make it easier for newbies.

A bit wider... but how much? Drilling template, one round, one elongated hole

A mounting bracket to go on wood / brick wall. Has two holes (horiz or vert). 3.5mm screws. 30mm long. Question: By how much should one hole be elongated to make it easy for an average DIY person to fit without straining the bracket? Hope the question is clear. Trying to cater for masonry...
