    Could you use a router and make a insert feature out of this bad happening and turn it into a good thing? I think that's the way I would be heading rather than go backwards and redo.

    Thanks Argee Its a Bosch 1400ace 1/4" shaft but as I intend only to be doing lighter stuff I hope it will be ok. The base plate is held on by 3 screws but I suspect I will have to get longer ones as the insert is a bit thicker than the base I think.

    ......would you suggest. I like Bosch as a manufacturer and would prefer to go battery driven for ease of use. I would also want it to be a hook & loop system too for pad replacement. anyone know if there are any good offers on that might swing me onto them??? Thanks

    Thanks gents your comments are appreciated. Fergus I mirror you on the experience and funds front so it seems I either go for the Draper 80002 kit with some of the latest fittings or for the aged but quality God router in the Elu 96. Streepips doing a quick search does show the Elu out there...
