    Many thanks. I'll be sanding the surface first, then brushing on the finishing stain. It's not got to last an age, I'm only building a pallet bar with a nice wood top. I'll have a look for the Sikkens stuff, but may have to go for an available alternative... Thanks again..

    I'm making an outside bar, the bar top will be made of a hard wood called Iroko. Wikipedia tells me that it doesn't require regular treatment with varnish or oil, but it still needs sealing right? any advice on wood finishes for Iroko wood?
