    Not Woodworking. Researching Companies

I think they are obliged to display their registered name for everyone to see in their premesis ( if they have premesis) Also on a similar note, they should also display a business name outside the business premesis ( although I could never work out who was going to police that rule?! ) but...

    hand electric Planers buying advice

We have a dewalt planer and it's very heavy. As a few people have mentioned, the touque and weight of the thing makes it hard to use especially on edge with one hand, it has been extremely reliable though. I have used The small festool planer and it is great for it's small lightweight design, a...

    Formaldehide Free MDF

The dust is the biggest problem but I have to live with that or change career! It would be good to get rid of a few of the nasties inside the wood.

    Formaldehide Free MDF

Thanks guys, From the small amount of research we've done, medite has a low formaldehyde content, apparently the lowest available ( excluding formaldehyde free). We did find A medite formd. Free supplier but your right, it is about £10 most expensive. Our problem is storage so we can't order a...

    Stoves.

I'm no expert but we have a greenheart brand from stoves online. It was daily well priced ( for a woodburning stove ) and works very well. It's basically a metal drum with a lid. Ours has two air inlets on the top, one that let's air into the top of the fire and one that has a tube leading to...

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

In the interest of cheering up, my Festool brushless drill has been very good. It's perfect for cabinet making, small and light but powerfull. It has worked faultlessly for over 4 years now. I don't want to sound like I'm contradicting myself but it is only fair to share the good news as well...

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

Of coarse it's his own fault for not extending his warranty. My 1st point was that a £1000 saw failed after 2 years. My 2nd point was that festool did not care or try to meet the guy half way. That's not good customer service.

    Formaldehide Free MDF

Bit of a swear word I'm sure but we use a fair amount of MDF. Has anyone used Formaldehide Free MDF ? I am interested to know what the quality is like. The health benefits are the reason for the interest. There seems to be quite a difference in quality between different suppliers /...

Storing 8x4 sheets..... Flat or on edge ?

What does {SWMBO BAD } mean?

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

Sorry if I come across as if i'm on a one man anti-Festool rampage, they are top rate tools when they are working, I just wanted to know if other people are having the same problems and if anyone knew of solutions. I am open minded about all tool brands but most of our tools are festool so...

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

They offer a one year warranty but if you regester (send off the card after buying a tool) they will extend it to 3 years. The man in question obviously did not regester his extended warranty.

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

Woodbloke, great skiing, how long did it take to recover ??? We do look after our tools and I am sure we are connecting them up correctly. We even had a sales rep from Festool come out once and check everything himself. We are, however, a workshop and things are used on a dialy basis...

Storing 8x4 sheets..... Flat or on edge ?

Top advice from all. Many thanks. I had better get designing !

Storing 8x4 sheets..... Flat or on edge ?

Just a simple one this time... We have a wood rack about 4' wide and 4' high and 8' deep to store sheets in flat ( so the short end is showing). Even though we made about 4 levels to lay boards flat on, it's a pain to get a sheet out as the one you want is always under something! My...

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

I agree that the ts55 plung saw absolutely transformed what we could acheave on site. I don't know what we would have done without it. Accuracy and speed in a compact tool and completely unique when it came out. We still use ours on site for shooting doors in. We prefer using that than a...

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

Thanks for your comments, nice to know (in a round about sort of way) that it's nothing we are doing and that were not the only ones! I will try to hard wire them all. It's a shame, the plug it idea is a good one on paper! Anyone recommend another brand of orbital sander ? It's the tool we...

Festool... Anyone else tearing their hair out?

We are a small workshop with lots of festool. In years gone by, I would rave about festools quality and precision but over the last year or so we have had nothing but problems with every tool, sometimes we have had the same tool repaired 5 times for the same fault. Has anyone had endless...
