    Which floor standing pillar drill?

Probably worth mentioning that it's not for a hobby or pastime, I'm a furniture maker and designer and it'll be used a lot in a busy workshop. :-)

    Which floor standing pillar drill?

There's one or two within potential range, I was wondering, a couple seem to be around the 300-500w power range, the newer ones I looked at are over 1kw, will these old machines at 370w really have the guts to cut deep forstner holes in hardwood? Thanks

    Which floor standing pillar drill?

Some crackers there for sure, a few single phase ones, only issue is I live in Glasgow so could be a very long drive to pick up. Thanks though, given the price of them it'd likely still be cheaper for me to buy one and pay fuel to pick up. Will check them all out and see what the power/max...

    Which floor standing pillar drill?

Thanks, I think converting may be outwith my skill set and also time. I need a working pillar drill asap. Unless I can find one that's already been converted I think a new purchase is my only option. Does anyone have experience of buying a new pillar drill with the above specs? Thanks again D

    Which floor standing pillar drill?

Now this I could get into. Is it as simple as swapping a motor out? I'm also concerned about the time it would take as I've (not complaining) got quite a few commissions to be cracking on with...

    Which floor standing pillar drill?

Thanks for the reply, it will be 95% woodwork with the occasional foray into metal. So I mean as accurate as can be with wood. I make bespoke furniture, custom shelving, guitar stands, wooden jewellery... I studied lutherie for 2 years and it certainly enhanced my already existing attention to...

    Which floor standing pillar drill?

Hi folks, I'm kitting out my workshop and reckon I've sorted everything apart from a pillar drill. I've used so many which don't quite cut it. A bit too much run out, not quite enough power, not quite enough travel etc and I'm after a reliable and solid machine that does what it's meant to...

    New member!

Hey folks, just thought I'd say hi given the fact I make major workshop and tool decisions based on things I read here. A wealth of knowledge. Thanks :-) Currently about to buy some new machines so I expect I'll be searching the forum more, watching videos and reading reviews a lot more in the...

    Help with wood ID?

Hi guys, I picked up some worktop that used to be in a local university, two 4 metre lengths which I was told were walnut. When I got there the tops are clearly made of several types of wood. I know it's a longshot but can anybody shed some light on what they may be? If this picture is pants I...

    Lidl wet and dry vac

I look after my ears for sure, been playing in bands for years and always wear ear plugs. Just saw a DeWalt dw60 extraction unit for sale, £40, think I'll go for it!

    Lidl wet and dry vac

Thanks for the speedy reply, I'll add a few quid onto the Lidl number for the Rutland's extractor, tis not much more tbh. Thanks again for the advice!

    Lidl wet and dry vac

Hi guys, long time lurker and first time poster :-) I was wondering if this vacuum would be any good with a thicknesser? Got a Triton TPT125 the other week and found myself swimming in chips. I guess the answer is probably no but ya never know. Would it still be decent for chop saw/band...
