Read through Bill Pentz's website, yup it's a long one. When you get to the Projects section it will tell you all you need to know on sizing and making a cyclone to his design.
If you mean you want to put one together for a shop vac using off the shelf parts then the plastic ones are smoother...
I'm the polar opposite. I don't drink any tea or coffee for that matter so there would never be any around. The wine tannin is easy to mix as needed in warm water, use it to make oak and other wood blacker when using steel wool and vinegar. I suppose if you had a bunch of anvils or large metal...
I also noticed the hole behind the plastic is somewhat smaller and the sharp lip is going to be turbulent if left the way it is. Fixing that will improve the little sucker. 😉

If you need tannic acid look for wine tannin used to "oak" wine. They make it from grape pits/stems or Chestnut bark. Amazon has it and it is not terribly expensive and you don't have to drink a drop of tea. As for painting on the black I don't see why not unless it needs to be immersed for long...
Tom I believe the ramp allows the entire width of the blade, most of it anyway, to be utilized. Not just the same part of the blade wearing while the rest of the width isn't. Do I have that right?
Nice so far Pabs.

You are correct but you are not factoring that the cheaper tools are being made to look exactly like the LN versions they are copying. Flattery? Nope. They are likely trying to draw in people that think they are buying the same tool. How would it sit with Ferrari if someone copied their cars...
Try carefully spinning up the wheels by hand, then turn it on. If it does so without tripping breakers then the capacitor need replacing. If it trips the breaker then something else electrical is happening.

Brake lines from "that" neighbour will work. I suspect like most people your junk drawer has some old pens that you don't use. The metal refills might do the trick.

Kind of depends on what you’re doing. For some people standing and coping a molding on a sawhorse can be easier pushing because you can see the profile you’re following without having to crouch or sit. Ultimately it is user preference.

Too late now but did you look into having 6mm or 10mm machined off the original rollers and then have them urethane coated? Recoating here would be about $250Cad/£150. Talk to the people doing the coating as to how much thickness they need if you have to go that route.

Your pictures are too big for me to download but from the description and what I see in the thumbnails it is one heck of a deal. If it wasn't for the ocean between us I would jump on it.

The problem with putting Jacob on ignore is that he is a prolific poster so pretty much every thread you open will be shot full of holes rendering it useless and nonsensical.

Okay. When you wrote "Yet, when I take an edge off of thick oak," my mind went to ripping. I never think of the end of a board as an edge. Probably just me though.

Mostly because I wouldn't want little razor sharp bits sticking up that would invariably cut me. If removing them won't disturb the bearing they can come out while the Locktite is wet. If they are too snug then cutting after would be the way. Up to you. You are there.

I googled it and got a number of recent prices. You can do the same and may get prices close to home.
