    What radius arris?

They do a 1mm too, so I could go smaller if smaller is better? In the past I've always taken the arrises off by hand and judged by eye, so don't actually know what a 1mm or 1.5mm radius would look or feel like nor whether there'd be much discernible difference.

    What radius arris?

I'm going to invest in a router bit to trim my arrises: Arris Rounding What radius should I go for? Context: This will typically be for 18mm sheet material (birch ply, mdf, edge-banded veneered mdf) used in projects such as cabinet making, typically with a contemporary/minamalist/slab style.

    What finish for bleached teak?

OK. I've got some input from very helpful Osmo support too: In short (for oil rich woods such as teak): 1 coat of Wood wax extra thin + 1 coat of polyx original can produce a really durable finish BUT it's experimental. YMMV. Pigmented oil like RAW 3044 or 3111 cannot be used in combination...

    What finish for bleached teak?

I'm going to bleach a solid teak desk for a contemporary study and am looking for product suggestions please. Planning on using Fiddes A + B bleach becuase it's the same price for double the volume of Rustins. Anyone had good or bad experience of the Fiddes product? As for finishes, I've been...

Name that wood 🎰 (and bonus question)

Hi all, Just picked up a large dining table (second hand) and would love to know what it's made from. Looks very teaky to me. However, the lady who I got it from couldn't remember but she thought that she wouldn't have got a teak table because it's not sustainable. I thought it could be...

What species would be on your shortlist for a slab desk?

There's two of us working side by side at this desk. In our current set up (which has legs and doesn't quite span the full width), the legs get in the way of our chairs, limit our options with pedastals/draws, and stuff often falls off the edge of the desk. The desk in your picture doesn't...

What species would be on your shortlist for a slab desk?

Nice - this is turning out to be a font of inspiration. @sawdustandwax - in the above, would I still create a torsion box framework inside the void? I.e. a framework of 18mm-high members arranged between the top and bottom faces and all hidden behind the solid wood filler? Or are you...

What species would be on your shortlist for a slab desk?

Torsion box would undoubtedly be strong, but also presumably thick. What overall minimim thickness do you think I could get away with in a torsion box assembly?

What species would be on your shortlist for a slab desk?

@Jacob Is your bearer simply attached to the underside of the mdf - so simply providing stiffness. Or is it somehow attached to the wall too - so providing support too?

What species would be on your shortlist for a slab desk?

Thanks all for the responses. I had visted surrey timbers towards the end of last year and saw some 3m pippy oak slabs at around the £700 mark inc VAT. But from your comments - that seems as though it might have been a bit of a bargain. I had originally considered the kitchen worktop - but they...

What species would be on your shortlist for a slab desk?

Hi all, Project & dimensions: I'd like to put a slab across the width of my small home office as a built-in desk. I'm hoping to support it on the sides and along the back with battens screwed into the wall - i.e. no legs. Dimensions: 2400mm x 600-700mm. Aesthetics: The walls are a bluey grey...

    Got any recommendations for squares?

I hadn't actually been thinking about marking the big pieces with the squares. My mind was more on things like marking mortises and such around PSE. However, your comments make me think that actually a big 345 triangle might be very useful for what I'm about to get stuck into.

    Excellent advice everyone. Thank you.

    Got any recommendations for squares?

I'm about to do a wardrobe build and am thinking some reliable squares will help. Up to now I've had to get by with a cheapo screwfix combination square (though found a video on this forum today that will help me get it square - yay!), and a set of lidl squares which aren't really square. Seems...

What do you use to clean your bits?

Ah yes - I bought one of those for my Mrs' engagement ring. I should use it more for my grimy things. Trouble is, I'm not sure if it's working so well these days - there's a distinct rattle inside it and sometimes I reckon it's just the fairy liquid and warm water in the bath that makes the ring...

What do you use to clean your bits?

Please share your experiences (good and bad) and your current preferences for products to clean gunk off bits. Router and drill bits, of course. Definitely interested in home made recipes too.

How can I fix a glass top to these fancy wooden legs?

Excellent design choice there - those cushions are a perfect match to the rug. The tables are quite nice too ;) 12mm looks good. Hopefully I'll be able to go with something like that, but I will have to ensure the weight is sufficient to counter the greater propensity to tip given I have only...

How can I fix a glass top to these fancy wooden legs?

Thanks all. So rubbery things it is then. Might consider sticky-on ones first to limit any invasive procedures to the wood (although @jcassidy makes a good point about the third leg). Yes, perhaps not cheap, but willing to spend a bit on it: I love the shape of the legs, and it was given to us...

How can I fix a glass top to these fancy wooden legs?

Hmm. Looks like those metal 'adapter plates' are a pretty standard fixing (albeit needing to be UV bonded). But on reflection, a round disc won't really work with this third leg because it has no horizontal surface: Looking at a similar type of table, it seems like this top is just rested on...
