We are considering having a solar & battery setup but unsure of what a realistic payback period is. If it takes (say) 10 years to break even and the kit has a lifespan of 10 years or so is it not the case that one would never be in credit due to the cost of replacing everything?
Also, I heard...
New rail arrived as pro
Ised, now fitted and all is good! The fence adjustment is as it should be - nice and smooth. Again, great customer service from Evolution.
Re the rack & pinion action .. spoke to Evolution today. It turned out that the front sliding rail was slightly bent causing it to jam. Apprantly this sometimes happens during transit. A new rail is on its way for delivery tomorrow!
Ii used my saw for the first time yesterday. Only my second table saw, bought to replace my old Evolution rage which I bough 10 years ago when refurbing a house. I’m not a woodworker as such, but enjoy pottering & its a step up from only having a plunge circular saw.
I was only cutting to size...
Looking forward to hearing how you get on with the new table saw. I bought the model with the wheeled stand as I too only have a single garage space. I bought it a week before Xmas, assembled it all but for various reasons, haven't had the chance to try it out yet.
Enjoy!
I bought the R255TBL+ as a Christmas present to myself based on a few reviews to kick start my new hobby! Not tried it yet though. I also ordered the optional low profile riving knife which other users see as a must-have for use with a cross cut sled. Although I dont have a sled yet. The whole...
Thanks to everyone for your comments. I didn't expect so many responses. I think its clear to me now that the finish isn't really what would normally be expected from a professional floor restoration job. We will however give the contractor the opportunity to come and put his work right if he...
We think its oak. The contractor made no mention of alternative treatments such as bleaching etc. he was only interested in sanding.
To answer an earlier post, the contractor has a website, facebook page with plenty of photos and a list of positive reviews.
We are based in Hinckley...
The floor is laid on wooden stats. Its fairly flat but does move and creak a bit. Its almost a sprung floor. For this reason the contractor said he would not run over it with a screed filler as he normally would on a solid floor, saying it would crack & crumble with the flexing of the floor. So...
We too preferred the darker finish. The contractor said he didn't want to stain after sanding as he couldn't guarantee an even finish given the existing patina of the blocks. So we agreed to a natural finish thinking it would be a safer bet. So yes, discussions were had & finish agreed before we...
Its possible that the water could have been from a leaking central heating pipe ie dirty water that accumulated around a heavy object the corner and ran under the window and then down the middle of the floor. The floor blocks are actually fixed on wooden strips which are nailed into the bitumen...
Thankfully, the quote was in writing. Yes, we will write formally to back up what we have said to him. He is being a bit canny as he did mention that without a recording its just his word against mine. So we will focus on the wording of his quote vs what he delivered or didnt.
