I use to use cillit bang but it quite harsh and eats metal if left to soak for too long, now tend to remove rus via mechanical means

I have chiselled them out - very brittle horrible to do flys all over the place and very sharp shards will give it a go with a heat gun next time thanks for the tip

I changed mine over to variable speed motor from my Jubilee, found it helped to lay it on its side and work form underneath with the tapped bolts etc especially the bolts furthest form access hatch
