I am looking for advice on behalf of my uncle, he took up cabinet making as a hobby after a course with David Savage in Devon, however he is now his late 70s and has decided its time to wind down his cabinet making activites and part with his woodworking machinery from his workshop.

He has a Felder BF5 combination machine he bought from new, with saw, planer thicknesser, spindle moulder that has been used for light hobby use only, a chisel morticer (good quality but not sure of the make yet), and an Axminster dust extraction unit, he has several cutters and a bobbin sander for the spindle moulder.

What do people think is the best option for selling them, ebay, gumtree, sites like this or to contact a company specialising in seconhand woodworking machinery, and does anybody have an opinion of what are reasonable prices?, he wouldn't be interested in arranging delivery etc, so the items would all have to be collected from his home workshop.

He lives in Dorset and i'd be interested if anyone can recommend of a company dealing in secondhand machinery in that area.

Derek

It might also be worth asking Felder they have a second hand business and might offer a fair price given they should not its history

This could be fortuitous - only last night I was asked by a friend to keep an eye out for machines for a work colleague of his who wants to fit out his workshop - but specified better quality old used machines.

Is there any way you could PM me some pics and ballpark prices please for him?

It's the Bristol area so not a million miles away.

I'll have to ask him to take some pictures for you and email them to me, I'll put them on here as soon as i get them.

The Morticer is a Multico M floor standing model, he has 1/2 and 1/4 chisels.

The Pillar drill is a Clarke 5/8 with 1/2 HP motor.

We really arn't sure of the prices these would fetch hence asking for advice on forums, bu they really are good quality machines with only light use.

Regards Derek.

Suggestions: You might try a message to forum member katellwood, as he sold a Felder like your dad's about four years ago on here (I think you need a few more posts before you can send PMs though).

Also have a look on ebay to see if one has sold recently.

I have a floor standing 5/8 Clarke pillar drill myself. I don't rate it very highly and I'd guess you'd only get about 100 or so (possibly a bit more): the ones that hold their value tend to be older and not Chinese made. Have a look on the Axminster site to see what their equivalent new drills cost and scale down accordingly for age and condition (theirs are a bit better than Clarke ones, IMHO).

Multico are a good make but I've no idea about value.
