Huge chariot or mitre plane ???

Very nice shape to it and a surprisingly reasonable price, presumably because of the lack of an uncommon iron. Please stick a magnet on it and reassure me it's steel, not gunmetal!

At least the suggestion that it's rosewood had the I'm-not-an-expert-just-a-wishful-thinker question mark alongside it ;-)

But a useful looking plane all the same.

Easy mistake to make as gunmetal the colour is Aston Martin DB5 Grey but gunmetal/naval brass the metal is like the bar below.

I was very happy with the price, guess the collectors are on holiday, don't like things without names, missed the size or dismissed it as a chariot with broken ears. Dodgy mouth and missing iron also helped.

Just been in touch with one of the high end dealers to see if they knew anything, my request was badly worded or he mis-read it.

I think I did see it on ebay, but lack of a maker name means
it's hard for me to sell. Craftsman-made planes are only really worth what
someone will pay for it on the day, so I tend to steer clear, same as other
collectors. Looks nicely made though.

So unusual/rare is only any good with a name.

My pockets might be small but I know which I'd rather have.
