this is a cherry jewelry box i made for my aunts birthday
i didn't have any exotic wood wide enough so the finial is just spray painted oak.
dimensions:
height (with finial): 13.5cm (5.3")
height (without finial): 8.5cm (3.3")
finial height: 5cm (2")
width at base: 9cm (3.5")
width at top: 13.5cm (5.3")

what do you think?
thank you

Very neat and crisp rendering, whose going to be a popular nephew then.

the first finial i made for the box was quite tall and sleek but it was quite fragile.
i intend for the box to be used so i made a more robust knob that is a little more interesting than one you would normally see.
thank you for the kind words

Mike, you certainly are going to be popular! Not many people know this, but I'm not u sually a fan of finials  but that one suits the box really well!

Something to think about is that if you have put a third black line on it and placed it right on the join it totally hides it.. Like this on a sewing kit that I do.

Which end comes off and becomes the thimble?

Lovely box Mike, your aunt will be thrilled with that and it will give her a good excuse to buy some more jewellery
