MOBILE BASE startrite 502e/big bandsaw-BAD FLOOR

I just got a 502e yesterday.. its 200kg
I didnt buy the wheel kit becuase i was thinking of making my own/broke
And glad i did not now because it looked a bit tippy (i could be wrong)
I didnt see any kind of wheel kit but presume its the same as the record power one which ive only seen on the web

I was fooling myself hoping the bandsaw space would be magically flatter than the rest of the floor ... obviously not
I have it on a big trolley now but its too high/awkward
BOTTOM LINE ...

Any of you guys made your own heavy duty wheel kit OR buy one that is easally able to
adjust forward and back plus side to side to account for the floor
any links /ideas/pics/advice apprecaited

If you make your own base you can get 100mm wheels that take 70kgs each

If you could afford it then, I would recommend one of these bases from Axminster. I've had one on my 401e bandsaw since February and, despite the 150kg weight, it makes the tall bandsaw very easy to manoeuvre around the workshop. Even on an uneven concrete floor, it's quite good.

I actually decide to raise the saw up by 2in (using two scraps of 4x2, bolted below the saw) as I found the working height of the table to be too low for me - but, I'm sure that the spec. on the 502 is different.

Tomas - I have the 352E which is 125 kgs and have a similar problem with my garage floor. I use the Axminster wheel kit and just have a broad wedge that I kick under the highest steadying pad. I was tempted to do my own thing with the Axminster 100 mm wheels, but that would raise the table another 4" and I felt that would be too high.

If you use the wheel kit, do not be tempted to make it wider than the saw base. The flex in the base frame is exagerated at the table giving unacceptable movement. You need the base frame as tight to the sides of the saw base as you can get it, and with the corners as close as possible to the wheels to minimise flexing. I can't help feeling that given the movement that I get with 125 kgs, a 200 kg machine would be too much for it. DAMHIKT.

WOW thanks everyone for the replys
I looked at both those it said the max weight was 230 kg
looking again at my floor its really really off and i definatly need
a system in which i can adjust 4 corners to it level up
that means it needs to be STRONG to take the strain of ?
wedges or some other method
I would love to get those foot lever mechanisims though
although they look a bit on the lite side

Can you even get those seperatly ?

Anyway it seems like ill be welding a frame out of angle iron
set wheels on one side and castors on the other jus like the links

I was on microsoft paint and drew up a corner (badly)
seems like the strongest quickest method with levelers on 4 sides
still unsure on what castors ...
im gonna try to get my hands on those (or even make one if i get a good
enough pic )
that is if its as simple as i would think

Have you considered dealing with the uneven floor?

Depending how far it is out and what it is made of at present a self levelling screed is very easy to lay and will have benefits for the whole shop.

ive spent about 6 or 7 hours solely last night looking for exactly that
looking at hundreds of casters on ebay :shock:
thats 100 % exactly what i need
i couldent be a happier man

by the way the floor is too bad to bother with
my bandsaw would proberly hit the celing on one side of the shed if i did level the floor
tis grand enough for us
though the big bench is dead level it looks strange if you look at it
from far away :?
