Would there be any other makers marks on those planes other than on the blade and lever cap?

The only real geniuses in all of this kerfuffle appear to be Mr. Spiers and Mr. Bailey.

No worries Mr P. I liked the fact our Russian friends also appreciate the work of old plane makers. Something I was also impressed by was how Lee Valley have full patent on their bevel down planes (at least the ones that have been on offer via axminster).

In addition Jim does some stunning work, that restoration is no exception.

Of all the characters in this bit of dramatic theatre I think Lee Valley's plane designs were the safest of all. Good performance at a nice price point but not setting the world on fire from an aesthetic point of view.
