Hi Chas, Thanks for the information, Do you know whether you can obtain the various tips from a UK supplier, I fancy having a go at making the tool, any info would be gratefully accepted.

Sorry I don't know of a Uk supplier, I've only ever bought one set from USA.
Don't think I will ever need to buy any more at the rate they wear, only just refreshed one tip on a diamond stone after 5 years use.

I previously purchased one of these tools from Wood Workers Workshop , but the owner has apparently retired and passed his business on ( see http://www.woodworkersworkshop.co.uk/ ) to http://peterseftontoolshop.com/epages/e ... orkshop%22 and they DO sell replacement cutters.

(They also sell the Router Raizer, which I found to be an excellent addition to my Dewalt router in a Bench Dog table.)

As regards function, they are very easy to use - as the US website explains, they were designed by a metalworker, and work in a similar way to metal turning tools. Very good for giving confidence to novice turners, as there is no 'first get the bevel rubbing on the workpiece . . . .' - just set the bar flat on the rest and poke the tool into the wood!

Thanks for that Don, had not registered that Peter was now stocking them, not that I'm likely to need replacements.

I use mine for both truing up rough blanks, as you say easy to use and no catch risks and in more refined boring inside my boxes. Being so sharp they cut well and the ability to have a stiff tool bar (mine are a bigger cross section than the official tool) removes chatter problems.
