    Big fella

I had a queen hornet crawl out from under a bench in my workshop one spring a few years ago. What a beautiful creature. She was still quite sleepy so I scooped her up and put her under a bush in the sun at the bottom of the garden to warm up. Half an hour later she was gone.

Given the choice between a man buying land for his parents' donkey sanctuary and an entitled hedge-fund wide-boy bank-rolled by his billionaire father-in-law who bet against British banks during the 2007 financial crash, I know which one gets my vote.

The latest Yougov poll of voting intentions by constituency is saying Lab 45%, Con 30% in Bournemouth East. That is truly remarkable. It would be the first time in 50 years of voting in GEs here in Bournemouth that my candidate wins. I'm finding that hard to believe, and I don't want to tempt...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

I don't know who's formulating election policy at Tory HQ, but on the basis of their steady stream of crackpot announcements their manifesto is shaping up to be a doozy.

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

No I don't. I'm not delusional enough to think it will be all rainbows and unicorns. I just want to see the back of the Tories who have outdone any of the likely alternatives in sleaze and incompetence.

I despise the Tories. The likes of Michelle Mone who enriched herself with millions paid for faulty PPE and then denied it, tax avoiders like Nadhim Zahawi who "made a careless mistake" and avoided paying £4.8m tax, heartless monsters like Suella Braverman denying her immigrant roots, nutters...

Car tax / road fund licence

OK, artie, since you're asking: A friend of mine watched as three police cars attended an incident in Poole recently. A homeless couple were arguing in the street. No blows were exchanged, but it was getting quite loud. Someone must have complained because three cars and six police officers...
