Need help on finishing a project which is a Parrilla grill for the garden.

I plan on using mild steel for the parrilla grill construction but i would like to keep it outside all year round.

What types of finish are going to be available for this which won't burn off at the first sight of fire and that is also going to be food save?

Only other thing to use will be stainless steel but i think this will cost too much for the materials.

Heres a pic of the sort of grill in question.

Andy in my experience stainless steel is going to be the best bet in the long run and if you do go down that route get the best quality s/s you can afford, or to put it another way Draper or Festool, easier to use easier to clean and less chance of contamination

i'd be interested in your findings, I plan to build a similar thing this year.
