Ashley Harwood Demo

So I spent yesterday watching rising star Ashley Harwood demoing at Glenn Lucas studio in Carlow,

First She showed us how she creates her wonderful Sea Urchin Ornaments, the tool control on the very fine spindle was amazing, Then followed up with a thin turned large bowl.

Most of her work was done ( including the spindle work ) with specially ground bowl gouges, plus a home made version of Drozda's point tool.

Keep an eye out for her, shes gonna be big,

And guess what - Only 2 and a half years turning.

She does very delicate work by all accounts.

Hi Nev,

No its a real shell, Filled with low expansion foam to add some stability.

No reason you couldn't turn one though and add some texture and colour !
